Tacho / Speedo wiring help
« on: July 01, 2020, 04:08:16 am »
Hi all,
Does anyone know which wires feed the Speed signal and the rev signal to the clock. Wiring goes to ÉCU first I think then I do not which feed to the clock.
I am trying to fit a Motogadget clock.
Stumped.......
Cheers

Hi,

I've got one fitted and working but not 100% sure which wire I cut into but think it was the Yellow/Blue. Your diagram looks to be suggesting light green but that's just feeding the immobiliser light. I can't check without taking the tank off and opening up the wiring so maybe try Y/L first then Lg if it doesn't work. Also it takes a bit of messing around to get it to run right, it says it's dependent on number of sensor elements and the manual suggest we have 2 but I had to keep increasing the number to get a correct reading. Rev counter is easy just take any NEGATIVE feed from a coil.

Worth the effort. Give me a shout if you have further problems.

MH, cheers for the reply. Must admit I’ve posted this plea for help everywhere, FB etc. This is the 1 of the 2 out of I don’t know How many that are serious and informative. Cheers.
My main worry is testing the feeds as the MotoG are .........expensive and don’t want to let the smoke out.
But I do have a cheaper clock I will test on. Results I’ll let you know, good or bad.

Cheers
Jon

No worries. If you get the Motogadget bug I've done the switches and indicators so could guide you through that but it's not cheap :)

Hi MH,
been a while but you said if I have any further problems..... :)
Have been sorting out the MT slowly nearly done.
Another question about motogadget clock wiring, do you know which is the engine oil pressure sensor and oil temperature sensor wires for the warning lights from the original loom?
Cheers

The MT 01 engine does not have any oil pressure sensing system at all. Not even a mute one that would feed into the computer. Nothing.

It does have an engine trouble warning light and an engine temperature sensor no. 28 & 45 on the wiring diagram.
I presumed they were linked somehow.

My son had a XJ600 some years ago, it only had a warning light for oil level. I do not think the SR400 he has now has any oil light at all.
Yamahas are weird.
