Rear Subframe
« on: »
Afternoon All,

As some of the long term owners may remember, a few years back a muppet borrowed my original 2005 MT and stacked it into a kerb at high speed. Part of the deal left me with a sad look ing MT that i planned to look at turning into a track bike at some point...

Fast forward a few years and things are finally moving forward at last! I've got most of the replacement bits but whilst moving it into position in the garage i noticed a definite tilt to the rear subframe. Now, i assumed that it would be some box section ally struts but closer inspection shows it's quite a hefty lump do either i need to dismantle it to see if it can be straightened or replace the rear end with something else? Does any one have any experience with attaching a different rear?

As i currently have 2 other road going 01's i've decided to make this a track only so i'm not worried about it passing an MOT!

Cheers
Nat

Hi Nat I'm sure you can fabricate and bolt on what ever you like :)

Hi Nat,

The rear subframe is easy to strip down. Once you have the exhausts off there's just a bolt holding it to the main frame. It's cast aluminium so might be fun trying to straighten it but worth a go. If it doesn't work, as Rocker posted, you could fab a replacement reasonably easily.
