Rear Sets
« on: March 16, 2021, 12:14:39 pm »
Hi All,

Just wondering if there's any interest in having some rear sets made? I can model them and provide CAD files to a CNC machine shop, they would be similar to Rizoma but stronger, taking into account Tim's comment on side stand, and I'd spec better bearings as mine are already badly worn in just 3K miles. I'm suspecting to make this viable I'd need at least 10 sets, 20 would be better.

Cheers

For anyone interested, one of the guys from the Facebook forum is going to team up with me and we're going to give it a go. It will take a while but I'll post progress on here. Also we considering a billet aluminium swing arm which should be cool, I'd also look to make it belt drive compatible.

Sounds good, I've got one of the Flyhammer sprocket covers if you want to have a look at copying it?

OK, here are a couple of images of the first piece, the left side main bracket. I've designed it so it can replace the current Rizoma piece, for those just needing a stronger bracket. Please let me have any comments. It obviously can't be a direct copy of the Rizoma or a Sato unit.

Mmm...Problem is, it's too incongruous a style if all you want is a hanger. It will look too out of place IMO...
  My two-cents... :)

Hey Tim, I’ll post shots of the 3D print in position so we can see what it looks like and then if too incongruous I’ll adjust. I put plenty of cut outs in as I thought the original looked “blocky”
You can always buy the RHS bracket as well then they’ll match 😁

Note, I’ll also be modifying the gear lever pivot to be double bearing so it won’t wear out, like the original Rizoma piece.

Hi all,

Below are images of the 3D prints of the Rearset LH mount and the Sprocket Cover. I will be making some changes to the sprocket cover; I intend to make the windows maybe 5mm smaller and slightly reducing the height of the logo. On the rearset mount, changes will be around stress points, maybe smaller cutouts. Colour wise they'll be anodised black, with the logo left aluminium on the cover.

Please let me have any comments. I'm modelling the rest of the rearsets in the coming weeks and possibly production runs next month. Prices TBA.

NOTE: Tim made a point about the strength of the Rizoma LH bracket and having found both my fixing bolts bent I have to agree that it does not support the side stand correctly. If there is any interest, I will try and keep this bracket similar to the Rizoma one so anyone who just wants to replace this piece can do so. If no interest I'll depart more from the Rizoma design.

Cheers

Max

Sprocket cover- count me in.
Sold my Over rearsets, my ancient frame prefers the factory foot positions!

Rizoma parts, of which a great many already have some, are all polished natural aluminium....
I could live with this as a variation, if it was possible to simply forego the cut outs as indicated, and the  anodising....?

  They look great BTW.

I’ve been chatting with Nikk and he reminded me neither the rearsets or cover were anodised, so I’ll produce all parts natural aluminium and offer anodising as an extra. On the cut outs, I’ve got to do some stress work so they may change to being a bit of relief rather than cut through.

Is the sprocket cover from billet in one piece? The Flyhammer one is a 2 piece which i'm guessing cuts the costs.

Looking good.

Personally I'd say the MT logo should be a bit more subtle, with less height from the main body of the cover, but otherwise great!

Re-flyhammer; New cover is one piece from billet but should be around the same price.

Re-logo; I’ve already reduced it to 3mm
