Needed a break from making the number plate mounting so decided to have a go at painting the MT logo on the tank.

Why didn't Yamaha think of that? Brilliant.

Hi all,

Here are a few shots of the completed bike, well when I say completed I mean MOTed and on the road but still a lot to do, mainly paint. MOT wasn't bad, failed first time as he said I might obscure the indicators on the bar ends! I didn't argue even though it made little sense, I've built 2 small LED units that fit under the exhaust covers so still keeps the minimalist look. They also complained about the bars as it wouldn't turn lock to lock and I could trap my fingers on the tank! Pig of a job to change but the results were worth it as the riding position is better. Took it for it's first run to Box Hill yesterday, nothing fell off but it needs tuning as there's a massive flat spot at high revs, probably due to the new K&Ns and 6" shorter exhausts :) got an advisory for noise :(

Your bike's looking really good, like the polished frame detail, particularly how you've left areas untouched, you should try the look with the knee pads removed? Also love the scenery, Australia looking good as ever.

All is can do is at least reassure you that I appreciate where I live every day of my life.
You rode this area when you were here didnt you? I seem to remember a vid on the snowy ride was it?
Anyway, thanks,  it was a silver frame (2011)  to begin and I have painted it black (2 pack) and rest polished.
The pads were off for the paint and polish and while I can see what you are getting at I do actually use them to grip knees so didnt really want to lose them.

I reckon its pretty good but I do my own paint and its been a search for just the right red. So, I should call it "shades of red" as there are a few shades in there. Gotta redo the fork lowers, thats an almost purple red, not right.
I do a pearl black over a magenta base with a blood red pearl coming through in places. Curves and such a highlighted with a brighter pearl blood red and apple red fine flake.
The green because it compliments red and I really like emerald green.

Just a quick update on my project. Had my first long ride out and my first go at riding it aggressively (had a meet with Nikk, Sally, Roy & Tim) and have to say I'm pleased with the end result. Nothing fell off :) Whilst the riding position is a lot more committed it doesn't take long to get used to, just a bit of a pain traveling slow, like doing a press up for several minutes :)
