MT-01 wheels change

Hi
Does anyone know what wheels I could put on my MT01 that would fit with minimal work. Just make new spaces etc.
Maybe 2009 r1 wheels would fit?

I did toy with the idea of getting a new set off Dymag UP7X’s or some Kineo spoked wheels but the wife is pregnant so I just can’t justify spending £1500 - £2500 anymore. Need to do it cheaply

Ideally I would like 5 spoke plus wheels. The more spokes the merrier really

Any advice would be appreciated

 I recently fitted Oz forged aluminium wheels from an Aprilia RSVR Mille
(Gen I fronts require a spacer for the front rotors, available on eBay, Gen II will line up the rotors with calipers without-This corresponds to the switch Aprilia made from axial to radial brake set up throughout the model range )
  You need to design your bearings, and spacers to fit...You need a custom sprocket and custom rear rear brake rotor too...
  It requires some work and effort. Looks pretty good IMO. Rides well with faster pickup and quicker braking than before...

I have a mate with a track day RSVR (not worth a lot) and was going to retro fit the wheels and front forks Ohlins as you know but they are much shorter so gave up the idea

Cheers !  I still have a fettled and tuned RSVR track day bike...!
  Sadly this summer has succumbed to fueling issues as I try to get to the bottom of the cause !
  The wheels arent a huge problem to fit. What I would say is to fit them to the intended bike...Ive tried umpteen sets of wheels from an RSVR, I think by now two sets of Oz, a set of Malgatech copies and a pair of Brembos...They are all different but especially the Oz...which means I still think it's an easy enough swap but spacers and such need to be built custom and fit to the bike rather than farmed out to generic measurements...Its the only way to get it right IMO....!

Thanks for the reply. You bikes looking awesome with the new wheels. I’m desperate to change mine to, I hate the stock wheels on the MT01. I think they really let the looks down.
I really like the look of these aprilia wheels, I seen a lot about it on an Italian forum but can quite understand everything as I’m using google translate!
I work in engineering as a machinist so I can make spacers and sprockets etc, what material did you use to make the rear disc?

I’ve seen some pictures of MT01’s with the Oz-braking B-one wheels to Which I really like but can’t find a dealer for them to get a price. I expect they will probably be out of my price range though

 I have seen those...At least they are more than 5 spoke ! Personally I prefer the Oz wheels but then I think the OEM design has a simplistic and pleasing symmetry that suits the bike very well. There are 5 spoke carbon offerings available. But they look wrong, to me ! Although, I have seen them look good on Gorilla's bike as part of a considered, all carbon package that included a carbon OS kit...
  The rear rotor is made from steel, ground and heat treated for longevity..
 It is necessary because the Aprilia disc is too small diameter. I seem to remember I kept to OEM thickness too ( stamped on your disc) I was happy to discover that getting one made to my spec was cost effective and quite quickly done here in the UK. Same with the sprocket, although I have a hard anodised aluminium offering. (As soon as Supersprox get their heads out of their arses and open for business to Europe as normal, I will migrate to a custom Stealth sprocket, again, because I dont expect the aluminium to last that long...!) I did this because I wanted to keep standard final drive ratios and chain specs. This ensures the speedo reads correctly. I didnt want to go down to 525 chain...!

  If you are a machinist, you'll have no problems....! :)

Ok thank you, do you know what grade of steel was used to make the disc? I was thinking just to use some ground gauge plate as you can buy it in at the correct thickness and it’s pretty hard stuff already but is still machinable. Im wondering if there’s any specific material that’s should be used for brake rotors for safety reasons, I’m sure I could find all this out somewhere on the internet but as you’ve recently done it I’ll ask your wisdom

Very Nice Tim don't know if you remember me from the old forum still use the mt01ash username even on the star Vmax forum. I see you have a lot of the aluminium parts on your MT sold all mine when I let my MT01 go if you ever want to sell the rear sets and Akropovic headers give me a shout please

Hi Ash, good to see you back. I have polished and painted mine, I reckon they suit the bike.
