Not as popular as once they were...
why do you say that Nat..?
...In the UK...
When i replaced my trashed one a few years back it was hard work finding one at a reasonable price. Even a really tatty one was £5500 and most wanted £7K plus for an an average one and stock seemed to actually change. At most there were 6-7 on ebay and an SP was listed at £14500 IIRC - and may have even sold as it disappeared from the listings at the bike shop! These days there's regularly around 15 on fleabay and a number seem to stay on there almost permanently.
With the state of the £ it wouldn't surprise me if the Euro's don't make the most of it and sweep up all the stock as they still seem popular over the water. Some of the German & Italian prices on bits are on the hefty side!
The Stage 2 i eventually picked up from Wigan Yamaha was up at £9K and the dealer wasn't interested in budging on price - probably because another forum member was due for a test ride just after i did the deal!
I found the receipt for my original MT last week that i bought brand new-ish - a 2005 that sat on the showroom floor for 2 years and first registered in 2007 when i got it. £6500 with 0% Yamaha finance over 2 years!
I reckon if Yamaha had released it with a bit more power a few years ago it they would have made a killing but as always they seem to get their timing wrong. In 10 years time some other manufacturer will probably release a Niken clone at just the right time...
