Problems starting my MT01

Hi am new member & am having problems starting the MT01.
The starting has been getting sluggish for a while so bought a new battery.
Still been sluggish to start & now all I am getting is a solonoid click & no turn over.
Bike has not been used much in last 5 years so may be a factor. Has anyone else
had these problems?

Hi I've not had any issues but a lot of others report starter motor problems. You may need to pull it out and check. Also check the solenoid for cylinder depressurisation is working. Cheers

The click and no turnover turned out to be the usual starter motor magnets needed to be reglued.  Have to remove oil tank first so could be done when servicing the bike after about 30k as a precaution.

Before pulling the starter motor it’s worth checking the starter solenoid/relay. I had similar problems about 5 or 6 years ago with it ending up not wanting to turn over at all. I shorted the solenoid out with a screwdriver and he spun over straight away.
I priced up a genuine part and it was stupid money so I got a Fleabay special for about £10 or £12 and haven’t had a moments trouble with it since.
It’s possible that one of the 2 bolts through the cables have come loose, but because it’s rubber mounted it’s unlikely, but there could be some corrosion there offering a high resistance, worth checking the battery terminals are tight too
