Sorry for asking a question as soon as ive regestered but a freind has bought an MT01 and I had a go on it yesterday and when putting into first it clunks so badly ! I dont think its air in system as other changes seem ok and no slipping when you give it a hand full !! any ideas please !! bit of a different beast than my 76 Z900 although shes been played with a lot !!
Totally normal. Don’t worry.
Yep as NIKK said its normal along with the shaking even had the glass fall out of one mirror on my 06
I had a yellow and green Z1 1973 that year an a few more. It was surely one of the most good-looking bikes ever built. Coming from a 650 Bonneville it was a rocket ship.
Still it had a flat spot around 3000 rpm which was about 80 km/h, right where you always seemed to be when overtaking. Revs were important even for a big bike then.
The MT is more fun to ride, but not to look at.

[/quote] blasphemy
I agree Z900 was and still is a good looking bike but saying the MT-01 not good to look at strange that where I ever go people just look at it and say that they like it
I think spec savers are doing 2 for the price of one maybe you should pay them a visit
I was talking about the Z1, first year model, not the Z900 which came later and was not at all as beautiful.
Besides, I only said the Z1 was better looking, not that the MT01 was ugly.
Specsavers, pfft!
But they way to avoid or ease it is to hold clutch in and blip and couple of times (lightly).
