Hello all,

I was keen to join the group having just taken delivery of my aging MT-01 last week. I have been vacillating about an MT-01 for a few years and finally decided it was time since my backlog of restorations was not likely to get finished before I was too old to ride them. I won't lie, I'm and '80's man at heart with a passion for Katanas and GSX's owning both a 750 S3 and a GSX1100ESD both up on blocks. I discovered a real love for the V-Twin after ending up with a TL1000 in a swap with a mate. Fabulous bike but played hell with the sciatica and had to go.

The MT ticks all the boxes and even if mine is a little tired having done 32,000 mile they are such a joy to ride if you’re a big bloke with no flexibility.

I’m desperately trying to resist the temptation to start some minor restoration but wondered if any of you might advise me on a throw-over pannier option which would go on a single seat conversion with Akrapovic pipes and guards? I didn’t buy the bike for it’s practical qualities but it’s so much fun I can’t resist using it for the commute and have to carry gear on occasion.

Attached is original pic used in the Advert, the orange is growing on me and the roar when you open her up is to die for 😊

I used this with good results:

(Can't insert a picture for some reason, maybe it's the beer?
It's not a big bag, but it works.

Looks like that one fits nice with the shape of the tank.
What model / how many liters is it?

Hi all,

Iam looking to buy a tank bag for the MT01, with a tanklock system. Arround 5L would be ok for me, using it for day trips.
Givi and SW Motech have some good options.

Any of you is using a tank bag with this size? I would like to see some photos how it looks on the MT01.

Hi all, not sure who still visits the site but I've just posted on Facebook re having some parts ready. It's ages since I started the project and I've been dogged by constant rises in material and machining costs, ali' has gone up over 70%! Anyway I've set prices which I hope aren't out of reach so I get some sales so I can carry on with the rearsets and the single sided swing arm. Here's a few pics.

Cheers

MT-01 / Re: Fuel return nozzle leak

Hi all,
Had my tank off for a while and now on install I have a leak from the fuel return nozzle (bottom of fuel pump) around the nozzle base before pipe joint.
It had some slight movement before taking off so hasn’t changed.
Does the fuel system need to be primed and full of fuel before nozzle makes a seal or is there damage?
Any one else had this problem.

Thanks all

Gidday DD, thinking the forum was dead but not quite.  Yes and no to having that problem. No to the system needing to be primed to assisting the sealing.  Return line is lowish pressure and a simple barb fitting so shouldnt be a problem to seal, you do have to be a bit carefull that it is not being kinked when you seat the tank fully home. Is it spit at join?
Did have an issue a few years back when I had refitted the supply line, gone for a dyno run, ridden at Phillip Island then went for a short ride from home only to have that line pop off and drain the tank while riding and rear tyre sliding around, just got home as tank emptied. So watch that the supply line is on fully and that the connector has clicked into place.
cheers Graeme
I had the same problem as Graeme, after having the tank off one day I replaced it and went out for a ride with no problems doing quite a few miles. Next day went out again and after 3 or 4 miles thought I had a rear puncture because it was moving around all over the place. I pulled over and could smell petrol and saw all the smoke, hit the kill switch and got off bloody quick, I really thought it was going to go up in flames. Turning the key on again after it had cooled down I could see the fuel spraying out all over the place and could just about see that the connection had blown off. An easy fix but that connection is a pain, whether it’s getting it off or putting back on.

Hi Mate, I've had no issues at all with the return line. Its a bit tight under there so make sure the hose is pressed home fully and as Graeme says not split. Its low pressure so should be an easy fix. My problems have been with the pressure supply side. The high pressure supply side has snap on connectors which can be a bugger to undo. I butchered the one on the underside of the tank and had to replace it. The fittings are Yamaha specific and expensive so be patient with them.  Cheers  Steve
