I hope that never happens to me.

I did use 8 bolts on each machined cap just to be sure, as the pressure inside the muffler must be bery high (especially with resctricted ends using a db killer).
True the db killers just use 4 of them, but the akras used just 3... should be fine (crossing fingers).

About 2 years ago a fantastic popping sound alerted me to the fact that the entire contents of my righthand side Ralph Elliott modded silencer had launched itself down the A38!
So I rebuild them from scratch myself.
I found the best sound and performance came from packing them with stainless steel wool pads (like Brillo Pads).
I used stainless steel perforated tube inside and machined aluminium end caps from solid billet on my lathe.
Sound is lovely, louder than standard but not as loud as the 'Ralph Elliots'.
I would recommend the Elliot nodded silencer  mine were 3 years old before the rh one launched itself.

Glad to be back!!!

The old MTOC had a lot of info about modded stock mufflers, but unfortunatelly... now it's gone, since Lazarus took it of in his Diavel...  ;D
For the register, here is the mod I made to mine:

Here is the sound after bringing the db killer out of the caps (the overun noise was terrible):

And with the larger 50mm db killers:

Still have to make the Akra style endcaps...
