I have had nearly every battery on the market for my 01 over the past 12 years
I totally agree get the same battery that yamaha supplied when the bike was new ,it’s the only one that works properly with the bike .
I’m on battery no 5 lol
Last one was genuine yamaha replacement but I let it go flat but it was 3 year old .

Agree. Get the same as the original & look after it- (Yuasa AGM). Mine is its original battery & still OK.

Well,
I use a lithium in my race machine, but only for weight savings.
If you google problems with lithium youll find lots.
I dont think theres a benefit....
I had one in my MT-01, and it got cooked and died. Leaving me stranded in the middle of no where.
Lead acid is known tech. "slow" and "heavy", sure. But youll save a bit of cash too. If treated properly (put on a trickle charger) they can last a very long time like 10+ years....
ymmv

Its coming into winter in Aus and my battery suddenly is running out of puff. Its only 2 years old - SSB gel battery 310CCA which retail for $80 here. They also have lithium battery 290CCA which they claim would last up to 10 times longer. I find it hard to believe a battery will last this long. Anyone with experience on how long a lithium will keep turning over our big v twins ?? Steve
